About
Deathtrap is one of the most successful comedy thrillers ever written. Filled with clever twists, razor-sharp wit, and edge-of-your-seat suspense, the play keeps audiences guessing until its shocking conclusion. Sidney Bruhl, a once-successful playwright suffering from a string of flops, receives a script from one of his former students that appears destined to become a Broadway hit. As Sidney hatches a plan to claim the script as his own, the line between truth and deception begins to blur. With unexpected turns around every corner, Deathtrap is a masterclass in suspense and dark comedy. Auditions are open to anyone interested in participating. No previous acting experience is necessary. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete an audition form. Bring a list of any rehearsal conflicts. Character age ranges are representative of the roles and are not strict requirements for casting.
Roles available
Sidney Bruhl
A once-celebrated Broadway playwright whose recent work has failed to find success. Brilliant, charismatic, and deeply witty, Sidney is determined to reclaim his place at the top—whatever it takes.
Myra Bruhl
Sidney's devoted wife. Compassionate, intelligent, and practical, she cares deeply for her husband but worries about the lengths he may go to in pursuit of success.
Clifford Anderson
A talented young playwright and former student of Sidney's. Charming, confident, and ambitious, Clifford arrives with a script that could change everything.
Helga ten Dorp
An eccentric Dutch psychic and bestselling author. Colorful, energetic, and often unintentionally hilarious, Helga brings comic relief while insisting she can sense danger lurking nearby.
Porter Milgrim
Sidney's attorney. Sensible, professional, and level-headed, Porter offers practical advice and serves as a voice of reason amid increasingly unusual circumstances.
