Lakewood Theatre Company announces auditions for William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" directed by Jannesa Kaylor. Auditions will be Sunday, April 19 and Monday, April 20 at 6:30pm at 2211 Old Hickory Blvd Old Hickory, TN 37138. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Prepared monologues of thematic or period relevance are optional, but not required. Rehearsals may be held Mon – Thur with some weekends possible. Character descriptions: Hippolyta – Adult, female. The Queen of the Amazons engaged to marry Theseus HBIC. Theseus – Adult, male. Duke of Athens, about to marry Amazon Queen Hippolyta. A lucky man indeed! Egeus – Adult, any gender. An Athenian upper-class respected gentleman who wants his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius. He gives out daddy issues like Halloween candy. Hermia – 18-35 presenting, female presenting. Egeus's daughter. Both Demetrius and Lysander are in love with her. She is in love with Lysander. Princess of the love triangle. Helena – 18-35 presenting, female presenting. A good friend of Hermia's and is in love with Demetrius. Deserves better than she gets. Lysander – 18-35 presenting, male presenting. Young nobleman of Athens. In love with Hermia. And only Hermia, right? Demetrius – 18-35 presenting, male presenting. A different young nobleman of Athens. With the approval of Egeus, he want to marry Hermia. Maybe it's love, maybe it's Maybelline. Philostate – Adult, any gender. Theseus's wedding planner who is responsible for organizing the entertainment for the Duke's marriage celebration and picks community theater. My guy! Puck – (AKA Robin Goodfellow) 16-66, any gender. A mischievous fairy; they are Oberon's servant. They don't give a puck about the rules. Oberon – Adult, male. The King of the Fairies who rules with (and sometimes against) Titania. A zaddy. Titania – Adult, female. Queen of the Fairies who rules with (and in spite of) Oberon. Probably used to be a horse girl. Thistleweed, Peasebottom, Moth, Cobweb, and Mustardseed – 16-66, any gender. Fairies of the court, need to move well. They aren't exactly ACOTAR fae. Peter (Petra) Quince – 18-35, female. The writer/director of their aspiring group of thespians. Has been waiting for this moment since they wrote their 7th grade summer camp skit. Nick Bottom – 20-66, any gender. Part of Quince's troupe. They thought the movie Shrek was really inspiring. Francis Flute, Robin Starveling, Snug, Tom Snout – 16-66, any gender. Aspiring thespians with day jobs. This is their big break!
